It is an incredibly exciting time to be joining us. If you are passionate about fairness and adept at delivering change you couldn’t be in a better place.
Improving our environment is key to helping to make Islington fairer. We are a busy, densely populated place. Space is in short supply – especially open space – so managing it well and using it creatively is vital. Tackling poor air quality, protecting and promoting our parks and open spaces, ensuring the borough is clean and tidy and promoting an inclusive economy are all top priorities for us.
As Corporate Director for Environment and Regeneration you will lead on all these areas. You will also have a critical role in shaping Islington the place – and enabling the council to deliver on its other priorities: from steering the planning decisions that will help us build more genuinely affordable homes and support a more inclusive economy, through to improved community safety.
We are looking for someone who is expert at steering complex, strategic environmental and planning infrastructure projects and who can bring fresh thinking and new ideas to Islington. You will be passionate about the environment and committed to helping us shape the Islington of the future.
As a member of the Corporate Management team you will lead and manage our Environment and Regeneration Directorate as well as playing a key role in the leadership and direction of the council.
We are looking for someone who is a strong collaborator with experience of working with residents, colleagues, Councillors and partners. Someone who sets their sights high, is committed to creating a positive development culture for staff and who can apply fresh thinking and new ideas to Islington.
If you are committed to equality and excellence and experienced at winning the trust and support of leading Councillors, you will be a great fit for us and we promise you the full support of our team in return.
We hope you will continue to read on, find out more and be inspired.
With best wishes
Cllr Richard Watts
Leader of the Council
